Who we are

By the family, for the family

vdw300.com is the family's own record, built for our three hundredth year. It works because a handful of people give their time, their knowledge and their papers to it.

The curators

The people behind the tree

The family’s history has always been kept by a few people who care about it. Today, these are the people who keep it.

Dr Krause van der Walt
For many years the custodian of the Van der Walt-Familiebond. He keeps the 1978 registration of the family arms.
Johan van der Walt
Looked after the Bond’s website and family enquiries for fifteen years.
Dr Ernst van der Walt
Family elder and author of Teen die Stormwinde in, the life of Gaele, our first ancestor in South Africa, told in his own words.
Dr Wynand van der Walt
Genealogist, compiling the new family register, The Van der Walt Family: 300 Years.
Guy van der Walt
Started vdw300.com in 2026 and looks after it.

The Bond

Where it comes from

The Van der Walt-Familiebond has looked after the family's history for decades. In 1978 it registered the family arms. The One Tree belongs to the Bond, and the register at its foundation is the work of C.M. van der Walt, used with the Bond's permission.

Branch keepers

Who places new relatives

The curators look after the whole project. Branch keepers have one smaller job: they know the families in their own branch, and they seat new relatives there. How the tree is kept.
